Edwin Allen High Expression Tour By Gavin Plowright and Melaine Warren Observer TEENageWriters

Tuesday, May 04, 2010

Edwin Allen High School, the renowned Boys and Girls Champs runners-up, showed us last Tuesday that they were not only stars on the track but also on the stage. Due to a power outage at the previous visit to the school, TEENage visited once again to host the TEENage Expressions Tour which this time, was an ultimate success.

The show started off with a poem entitled Bad Bruk Bwoy, which was done by Alexia Henry. She recieved positive feedback, as the crowd applauded her for her remarkable delivery. Next to the stage was the Edwin Allen Dance Group, who took a while to begin but their overall deliverance was superb. Dancing to popular hits such as Thriller by Michael Jackson and Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas, the creative dance team had the crowd hooked throughout their entire performance.

The dance group was followed by Shericka Dawson, whose melodious voice made her performance of the song Without You, astounding despite the technical difficulties. Next was Kadian Anderson, who did a poem titled Tief From Tief. Following this was Dalton Harris who graced the stage with his original song I Will Haunt You that had the crowd going wild.

Lushane and Friends were the next performers, with their skit, Sheep in Wolf's Clothing that gave the students an informative and positive message. Gospel deejay Derrick Anderson was next behind themic, and deejayed Anytime You Need the Lord, after which Thevanese Carruthers did her poem Plus Tax.

During the show, there were TEENage trivia giveaways, where Jordeen Banner was our first winner. He received prizes from the TEENage as well as from TEENage Expressions Tour's official drink sponsor Freshhh. Our second winner was Moya Francis, who also received a token from TEENage.

As the programme continued, the stage was also graced by dancers Lamar and Rojae who showed us their talents with a collection of dance moves including Gully Creeper. After their performance, MC Cassania Lewis-Jarrett could not help but ask for a dance lesson from the boys who attempted to teach her the Gaza Wasp. Other performers for the day, included Lushane with Storytelling; Neuli Dyzn, the deejay; the class of 10-Seven with their skit; Rashade Reid and Sharona Anderson.

The students were treated to cool refreshments courtesy of Freshhh, while our judges were tallying the scores. Third place was given to Lushane and Friends and second place went to Thevanese Carruthers. Our winner was Dalton Harris, who received the opportunity to come to Kingston for the final showdown. They all received prizes courtesy of TEENage, Cooyah and Freshhh.

Newcomer to the music business Keida was the guest artiste. She closed the concert with a banging performance that had the crowd dancing. As she closed her set, students were chanting for an encore. To keep the vibe alive, 'Legend Stereo' (a car stereo system) sent off students with a collection of popular hits.
